Since I basically did nothing over spring break, I didn't have any pictures. This is from the week before and it's Kyle. He had a wonderful moustache and an even better beard. He is probably the only guy I know that looks better with a beard because he kind of looks like a 12 year old without it.
My spring break was just okay. My parents didn't know my brothers and I had the same spring break, so they didn't plan a vacation this year. I spent the first half fighting with my mom about my sleeping habits and my lack of a job. She was concerned about the fact that I sleep from 2 AM until noon. I never understood why that's bad because I have nothing to do in the morning, so what's the point of waking up if I had nothing to do? The job fight has been a war that has lasted for 3 years. My parents decided that they wouldn't sign the lease for my apartment until I had a job. They worried that if I lived in the city in the summer without a job that I would just go out and party all the time. That doesn't make sense because I need money to do fun things and I wouldn't have any since I didn't have a job. However, that war is now over because I finally have a job!! I work as a cashier at a place called ETNO grill that is 2 blocks from my dorm. it's perfect for me. The people there are very chill and they said they would work around my class schedule and I can take vacation days as long as I give some notice. I'm just overjoyed that I finally have a job. I start training on Saturday.
I did have a very retro spring break. I got some high waisted button fly pants and a Marilyn Monroe shirt that I love. I also watched Some Like it Hot, Rebel Without a Cause, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. As you can see, I'm on a bit of a Marilyn Monroe kick. I also finally finished watching Freaks and Geeks and caught up on Girls.
Every day, my mom took my brother Mitch to visit a different school. We went to Loyola on Tuesday. I stopped by DePaul to drop off and pick up a few things from my dorm. I ran into my professor from my Discover Chicago class on the L. He's one of my favorite professors and I talked to him the whole train ride. Unfortunately he isn't teaching here for the next year or two because he has to focus on some court cases and hes doing a bunch of human rights projects to save homeless people and trans people and people with HIV. He is always doing so much and it makes me feel lazy. When I got to Loyola, I visited my friend Thomas who goes there. We were friends in high school, but we hadn't seen each other since then. It was nice to catch up with him and we plan on hanging out more this quarter. I had never been to Loyola and it was really pretty because it's right on the shore of Lake Michigan. Right now, it's Mitch's favorite which surprises me. I always pictured him at a traditional college with a big campus and not much else. The city seems to busy for him and I feel like he would get lost. Also I don't know how I feel about him going to school near me. I don't want him coming to me for help all the time because that is generally what he does. He isn't very self sufficient since he always relies on our parents and I to help him with everything. Also my dad joked that they would make us share an apartment to save money and that would be a nightmare.
On Wednesday, I hung out with Madeline and took her and Alanna to Goodwill to look for prom dresses for them. We hung out at Madeline's house afterwards and played Mariokart on the wii.
On Thursday, I was supposed to hang out with Nida and Cooper, but it ended up being just Nida because Cooper bailed. We went to the library and hung out a bit. I ended up getting a job interview for ETNO on Friday and had to go back to the city for it. I spent Thursday night in my dorm. It's always weird being in my dorm when it's mostly empty. The next day I went down to the John Hancock building for my interview. The interviewer, who I think was the owner, was really nice. It seemed more relaxed than most other interviews I had and I felt at ease. He liked me a lot and said that I would start training the next week. I was so thrilled I could barely contain myself. I went back to my dorm and had to pack again because my family was going to Wisconsin to see my grandparents for Easter. I hopped on the L and met my family on the northwest edge of the L system near O'Hare airport and we drove to Wisconsin. I was amazed by how much more snow Wisconsin had than we did. Plus it was all melting because it got up to the 50s that day. We spent the night at the cottage with my grandparents and aunt and we ended up watching Pitch Perfect. I was shocked by how much my grandma loved it XD
